Our client’s design brief for this small galley kitchen in Poynton, Cheshire was to largely maintain the existing layout but to use the space more effectively to create more storage space and to update the tired appearance!
We opened up the kitchen into the morning room by removing the outdated archway which allowed not only additional space in the main kitchen for storage and appliances but allowed more light into the kitchen and linked up the kitchen to the dining area and morning room. Applying the same flooring throughout linked the whole area together giving a greater sense of space throughout.
We replaced the outdated lay on units with bespoke hand made, in frame, shaker cabinets around a gorgeous new range cooker with integrated extraction in the wall cabinets to allow more storage, better use of the worksurfaces and streamlined the whole kitchen.
A solid oak spice rack fitted to the small larder allows easy access to cooking ingredients whilst the 2 large oak drawer boxes either side of the range provide useful storage to for cooking utensils.
The bespoke cabinets were made extra deep on the right side of the kitchen in order to allow us to integrate the client’s existing non integrated washing machine and dryer, whilst the bespoke wall unit hides the boiler.
The new design resulted in more storage space which in turn created clear work surfaces, a larger cooking area with easier access, integrated appliances and a brighter integrated kitchen dining area with the morning room.
We are proud of our client’s testimonial below which confirms we achieved just what she wanted!
‘My kitchen is small so I was very pleased with the skilful use of space. The workmanship is excellent and the workmen polite and helpful.’ Mrs B, Poynton.
