The first time you catch a glimpse of this wonderful New England style home, nestled on the hillside, over looking gorgeous Grasmere, you simply can not help falling in love with the warmth, charm and tranquillity it exudes.
Perhaps it’s the Scandinavian origins of this timber home by Fjordhus which creates a natural ‘hygge’ inside and out.
They initially visited us for their kitchen design consultation a year in advance of their new build timber home with just the plans for their dream kitchen – an open plan kitchen diner. They chose a classic shaker style kitchen in dark grey slate which beautifully complements the exterior painted wood and indigenous local slate roof.
The first stage in our bespoke kitchen design process for a new build is to work from the architects plans to create a floor plan that is designed around the client’s unique needs for example the specification of appliances required and any larget pieces of hand made furniture required such as a kitchen larder, pantry or kitchen island. There are so many options to choose from with bespoke kitchens but rest assured we guide you along the way. It is also very important that the kitchen design works on a practical basis so we ask questions about how you want to use your kitchen to make sure the design is tailored specifically for you.
Once the floor plan has been approved, we bring the kitchen to life with 3 D images. This is then the starting point in fulfilling the dream kitchen every client can obtain with a bespoke kitchen.
This hand made designed and built kitchen diner has a medium sized kitchen island with the capacity to seat 3, and an ocean white quartz work surface with deep pan drawers facing towards the Belfast sink. As one of the finishing touches, the gorgeous accent pendant lighting over the island is cleverly replicated over the large kitchen table to give continuity to the whole kitchen design.
What better choice to complement this Scandinavian designed home than an Aga cooker, originally invented by Swedish physicist Gustaf Dalén. In keeping with the simple shaker kitchen design, the cooker has an overmantle consisting of one shaker style panel to conceal the extractor and classic arched supporting brackets
A double Belfast sink sits beneath the large kitchen windows dressed with plantation style wooden window shutters, in keeping with the New England style.
A large free standing bespoke larder cabinet houses an integrated fridge and freezer behind shaker doors together with a microwave behind the bifold shaker doors.
A separate luxury utility room houses the washing machine, drier and Belfast sink with plenty of space for outdoor clothes, and shoes. A beautiful bench seat sits in the corner of the room to take a welcome break after a good walk! There is even a place for the cat to live in peace.
Front of house is occupied by the family room with gorgeous marine blue sofas and a cosy log burner. With a vaulted ceiling and large windows the view of Grasmere from this room is most exquisite.
We are a Stockport based kitchen designs company that makes more than just traditional kitchens, we can turn our hand to making any piece of furniture for the home – including utility rooms. The final room in the house for us to complete in this amazing home was the snug room where we crafted a hand made bookshelf that filled the entire wall and around the doorway.
