As we face the next few weeks of uncertainty about which tier we are in and what we are allowed to do, one thing remains constant, the comfort of own kitchen and the knowledge that we will have more time to spend in our homes. So, why not get creative and use the time in your kitchen to experiment with some of the best of ‘British Bake off’ recipes.

With the money you are sure to save by staying in, you can afford to splash out on some fabulous new kitchen appliances to get the ‘bake off’ look in your kitchen :-

1. The KitchenAid Artisan Mixer

£499, Currys

The KitchenAid Artisan mixer is available in a range of both pastel and metallic hues and is the stand mixer of choice in the Bake Off tent. It handles large quantities of cake mixture ingredients and handles the stiffest of doughs, to create any fabulous showstoppers! What’s more it looks amazing and compliments the vintage theme perfectly.

2. Swan Retro Microwave

Argos, £82.99

While the microwave oven doesn’t play a huge role in the bake off tent, we’ve spotted this beauty from Swan which fits in wonderfully with the British village green tent.

3. Smeg Fridge

Appliances direct, £1099.00

The BBC ran into trouble in 2012 over the gorgeous Smeg fridges in the Bake Off tent, because of product placement. The fridges, which come in a range of pastel shades have since been replaced with a similar retro design from Gorenje. Whilst more wallet friendly we have to say we prefer the Smeg!

4. Dualit hand mixer

£69.99, John Lewis

If you only bake occasionally or want to avoid the expense of a stand mixer, a Dualit hand mixer is a good alternative. At £70, these models are on the pricey side because you can pick up a basic hand mixer for around £15. Higher-end models do tend to come with extra accessories such as balloon whisks and a sturdy metal design but they can be a little heavy!

5. Magimix food processor

John Lewis, £239

Food processors are really handy for speedy chopping, grinding and mixing jobs and perfect for binding pastry without it getting too warm in your hands. The Magimix comes with a wide range of attachments for everything from grating and chopping to whisking, mixing and blending. The timeless design certainly matches with the retro vibe of the tent and well worth the price tag.

6. Mason Cash mixing bowl

John Lewis, £18 – £27.99

First developed in 1901 in Derbyshire, Mason Cash mixing bowls are made from high quality chip resistant earthenware making them heavy enough to stand when mixing yet light enough to hold comfortably in one arm. The distinctive exterior pattern allows bakers to grip and tip the bowl and the wide shallow shape allows for kneading. A must in any would be bake off contestants kitchen!
