Project Description

Contemporary Handmade Shaker Kitchen, Didsbury

This bespoke Shaker Kitchen was installed into the renovation of a Victorian property in Didsbury. Whilst the outside of the property looks like a typical period property the inside has been completely transformed into a contemporary open plan oasis.

The minimalist colour scheme immediately sets the tone. Farrow and Ball ‘Dimpse’  for the wall cabinets as a backdrop to the bold ‘Downpipe’ selected for the kitchen island.

The cabinetry design of this bespoke shaker kitchen is sleek and minimal. Plinths have been recessed and square flat cornices used for a pared down contemporary feel.

Smeg ovens and coffee machine banked together on one wall create a defined cooking zone. As well as being practical to use when grouped together at head height, the matching size and brand creates a pleasing balanced result. The Smeg induction hob is positioned in close proximity, integrated into the beautiful quartz worktop of the kitchen island and has plenty of workspace around it for food preparation. Two deep pan drawers sit directly below to accommodate all the cookware.

A Franke inset sink and Smeg dishwasher positioned behind the induction hob are perfectly placed to instantly deposit dirty cooking equipment and with a Quooker instant hot water tap there’s no need for unsightly kettle wires to clutter the work surface. The large integrated fridge and freezer sit neatly behind bespoke cabinets creating a beautiful symmetrical design to this kitchen.

A bespoke kitchen island creates a natural divide for cooking and a great central feature for informal dining and socialising. By painting it in a contrasting colour you can really make a statement of this focal point.
